TYPES OF CLINICS Level 1 = Partnership This is for people starting out with PNH. It is appropriate for anyone whether you have vast experience with horses or are completely new to horses. Mostly online savvy with a small component of freestyle savvy. Learn to play the 7 games effectively, resulting in forming a partnership with your horse. Use a halter with 12 foot line, carrot stick and savvy string. It is about safety, developing an attitude of justice and learning the skill of fast release (hands that close slowly and open fast). Level 2 = Harmony Online savvy, freestyle savvy and Liberty savvys are taught at this level. Adding in more harmony to your relationship. Use a 22 foot line, carrot stick and savvy string. Its about building confidence for horse and rider, using expression and body language. Use smaller signals for greater effect. Level 3 = Refinement Taking and expanding on what has gone before, applying these skills to your discipline. The sky is the limit. Use a 45 foot line, carrot stick, savvy string and/or flag on stick. It is about increasing skill levels using subtle communication. All 4 savvys are taught at this level. Mixed Level clinics - e.g. L1-2 or L1/2 Sometimes we run mixed Level 1, Level 2 or 3 because we have enough students ready at both levels. There are two formats for this: 1. L1/2 or L2/3 or L1/3 These are two 1 day clinics: Level 1 in mornings and the Level 2 in the afternoons of the clinic days. People often like to watch the students from other level. 2. L1-2 or L2-3 This is a one 2 day clinic with students who are at the experienced end of one level and the begininng level of the next. Russell runs 5 day Harmony/Refinement clinics - but currently not in Northland although I think we will be able to soon. WHAT ARE PLAYDAYS? Playdays are informal get togethers with other students in your area. You can come with or without your horse. It is about helping each other with any difficulties and having fun together.
WHAT ARE AUDITIONS? Auditions are a film clip of yourself and your horse (about 10minutes maximum) which is sent to the USA Parelli for assessment. You need to be a member of the savvy club to send in your audition. This is how you can pass a savvy or a whole level. |
WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOU ARE INTERESTED? How to book in: - Contact Pat - phone (09) 432 0018 or email: homeopat@ubernet.co.nz to register your interest, even if clinics are listed as full. Numbers often change so make sure you are wait-listed anyway. For riders bringing their horse: Closer to the date of the clinic, we will ask for confirmation that you are still wanting to attend. About 2 weeks before is the deadline for your full payment For people coming without a horse: Book now and pay on arrival at course. ______________________________________ Congratulations to those people who recently passed a savvy or a Level.
